The
Dyslexia Determination Test (DDT)
Description of the Dyslexia Determination Test (DDT):
Is used to investigate specific aspects of language problems relating to
reading, writing and spelling.
Is designed to identify and classify specific deficiencies related to
decoding and encoding of the written language.
Provides a basis for recommendation and application of therapy for
individuals having particular patterns of dyslexia.
The
DDT is widely used for testing
dyslexia. The test is comprised of three parts; the first one involves
checking for written reversals of numbers and letters. The second part
tests the mode of decoding words: eidetic or phonetic. The third and last
part consists of assessing whether encoding is eidetic or phonetic. Direct
diagnostic testing is necessary to determine both the type and severity of
dyslexia.
The
DDT will determine the following
types of dyslexia:
Dysnemkinesia
Deficit in the ability to develop motor gestalts (engrams) for written
symbols.
Dysphonesia
Deficit in symbol sound (grapheme-phoneme) integration and the inability
to develop phonetic word analysis synthesis skills.
Dyseidesia
Deficit
in the ability to perceive whole words (total configuration) as visual
gestalts and match with auditory gestalts.
Dysphoneidesia
Deficit in grapheme-phoneme integration and in the ability to
perceive whole words as visual gestalts and match with auditory gestalts.
Dysnemkinphonesia
Deficit in the ability to develop motor gestalts for written
symbols and in grapheme-phoneme integration.
Dysnemkineidesia
Deficit in the ability to develop motor gestalts for written symbols and
in the ability to perceive whole words as visual gestalts and match with
auditory gestalts.
Dysnemkinphoneidesia
Deficit in the ability to develop motor gestalts for written symbols,
grapheme-phoneme integration and in perceiving whole words as visual
gestalts and matching with auditory gestalts.
